Canada expresses keen interest to invest in the EPZ

Canada has lauded investment friendly climate, workers right, overall safety & security and existing working atmosphere of the EPZs of Bangladesh. Canadian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Benoit Prefontaine made these remarks during visiting BEPZA Executive Office, Dhaka recently. The ambassador expressed keen interest to increase more Canadian investment in the EPZs.
Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan, BSP, ndc, psc, the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) informed the overall scenario of BEPZA to the Canadian Ambassador. Mentioning Bangladesh EPZs as the ‘Bonanza for Investors’ he said that investors from 37 countries have set up industries in the EPZs. BEPZA is now prominent as a brand in the global market. Industrial friendly peaceful investment climate is the main attraction of EPZ and the key strength of EPZs is amicable cohesive teamwork & harmonious relations among Worker-Management-Owner, he added.
The Executive Chairman of BEPZA uttered that under the direct supervision of the Honourable Prime Minister BEPZA achieved 200.93% growth in investment, 245.68% in export and 118.60% in employment generation during the last 9 years of the present Government. General Habib informed the Ambassador that at present 7 Canadian enterprises are in operation at Chittagong, Dhaka & Comilla EPZ. He hoped to increase more Canadian investment in the EPZs through the Ambassador.
