BEPZA Exceeds Investment, Export & Employment Target as per APA of FY 2018-19

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) crossed investment, export and employment target in 2018-19 fiscal year. During the last FY, the operating enterprises of 8 EPZs of BEPZA investment gained US$ 333.38 million, exported goods worth US$ 7524.11 million and created employment opportunities for 19548 Bangladeshi nationals. As per the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) signed between BEPZA and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) the target was fixed US$ 300 million in investment, US$ 6500 million in export earnings and generating employment opportunities for 15,000 Bangladeshi nationals.
Investment Gained US$ 333.38 Million
The operational enterprises of eight EPZs of BEPZA have attracted US$ 333.38 million actual investment against the target of US$ 300 million the recent passed 2018-19 FY. Among them Chattogram EPZ gained US$ 75.69, Dhaka EPZ US$ 76.14 million, Mongla EPZ US$ 10.14 million, Cumilla EPZ US$ 31.08 million, Uttara EPZ US$ 31.02 million, Ishwardi EPZ US$ 8.18 million, Adamjee EPZ US$ 50.22 million and Karnaphuli EPZ gained US$ 50.90 million. The cumulative investment stands at US$ 5014.23 million until June 2019 in the eight EPZs of BEPZA.
Export Earned US$ 7524.11 Million
From July 2018 to June 2019, BEPZA crossed the target US$ 6500 million by achieving US$ 1024.11 million more. The total export earnings stands at US$ 7524.11 million. Among them Chattogram EPZ earned US$ 2391.69, Dhaka EPZ US$ 2206.31 million, Mongla EPZ US$ 89.44 million, Cumilla EPZ US$ 490.76 million, Uttara EPZ US$ 293.76 million, Ishwardi EPZ US$ 150.22 million, Adamjee EPZ US$ 826.40 million and Karnaphuli EPZ US$ 1075.52 million. The cumulative export earnings from eight EPZs are US$ 74089.23 million.
New Job Opportunity for 19548 Bangladeshi
The enterprises of BEPZA created job opportunities for 19548 Bangladeshi nationals with the target of 15,000 nos. during 2018-19 fiscal year. Among them 2067 persons have been employed in Chattogram EPZ, 1482 in Dhaka EPZ, 1565 in Mongla EPZ, 1820 in Cumilla EPZ, 1941 in Uttara EPZ, 1357 in Ishwardi EPZ, 3988 in Adamjee EPZ and 5262 in Karnaphuli EPZ. 5,21,561 Bangladeshi nationals are working in eight EPZ of the country as on June 2019.
